A dreamy plan

Culture, My Life No Comments »

My “plan” (wishfull-thinking-plan 2.0) for the 2009 Summer:
- Rock am Ring festival in Germany - early june
- Interrail in Eastern Europe. [Southbound from Prague along the Adriatic Sea, turning north from Istambul and traveling innlands threw Bulgaria, Serbia and Slovakia. Basicly a round trip in the southwestern parts of eastern Europe]
- Rock en Seine festival in Paris late August

Sounds good doesnt it?
Now all I need is to fund this trip… Anyone got a few thousand bucks to spare?

EDIT: Seeing as things are realy calm here at work I mapped out my dream trip on Google Maps, this is somewhat modified and not including the fligth Tromsø –> Nurnburg and Paris –> Tromsø. Enjoy.

A Man with a Plan

My Life 1 Comment »

Last night I was up late “planing” a trip to the Rock-en-Seine festival in Paris in August. It looks like a realy cool festival, and I wouldnt mind spending 12 days in Paris. (As I do nothing half assed I was planing to see both the pre-festival concert with Rage Against the Machine on August 20th and the main festival 28-29th August. I even hunted down some good deals for both travel and hotel. Even tho this was just a fantasy, it was a good plan ;)

Today, however, real life came crashing down on me with some realy good news. I was offered a job at the Platekompaniet record shop in Tromsø starting in mid-august. And I took it.
So now I actualy have a plan for my life for the next six months ;)
And, I have even started planing for next summer (wtf is happening to me? Growing up? :S).

Im back! (and lazy..)

So, Im back from Sweden.
I have been for a week now. I’ve just been to lazy to blog, the festival realy drained me of my powers. The fact that I have been somewhat ill since my triumphant return may (and I realy hope it did) have had something to do with my recent form.
Anywho, Im back, but I still aint black.

Tally-ho!

EDIT: Still to come, reports, reviews, pictures and videos from the Hultsfred festival.

Dagbladet.no reports that the “figth” between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama will be decied tonight. And according to the same newspaper Hillary is ready to accept the possision as the VP candidate for the Democratic Party. What will this mean for the US and the rest of the World?
On my part I am just about ready to call this election for the republican candidate John McCain.

As I see it the democratic party has limited options left:
1. The Obama-Clinton ticket. Unlikely seeing as Hillary Clinton is to strong for the VP place on the ticket. This will alienate voters with reservations agaisnt women and african-americans. As well as make voters unsure on who is the actual front runner. As I see it the VP candidate should always be a weaker presidential candidate by some margin. So a Obama - Clinton ticket is unlikely as both the DNC and the voters will prefer a strong leadin Presidentian candidate with a backup man/woman. Not a contious powerstrugle within the Withe House.
2. The Obama ticket, With the VP spot open for grabs at the DNC. Even tho I personaly feel Obama would make a greate president for the US I doubt he will beat McCain, even with the last eigth years of perpetual failture on the republicans part. I seriously doubt that the US is ready for a african-ameriacan president. To large portions of the country will simply not vote for him. I fear that, atleast some of, the voters who voted Clinton in the primary will stay home on election day. Not just becouse they would prefer Hillary on the ticket but becouse they are not ready for an african-american president. More to the point, check out these voters from West-Virginia:
Now, obviuosly, these people are ’special’. But still, I fear that these feelings may run to deep in the american voters for them to vote for an african-american candidate at this point in time.
3. A wild rampid free for all at the DNC. A proper america-style ‘democratic’ process. With a final vote on a candidate after a few days of debating. Whoever migth be the winner of this, I feel the Democratic Party will come out stronger in the end. After this process, a Obama ticket migth be able to raise enough enthusiasm to make it all the way to the wite house. Or we’ll have Hillary on the ticket, bringing with her the pasion of the withe working cass, as well as the rest of the democratic party.

Whatever the outcome. I would, if I could, vote Democratic. It is indeed about time for a new direction in american politics!

Shameless plug: Id love to be at the Democratic National Convention August 25-28 in Denver, so if there is anyone out there who needs someone at the convention. Ill gladly be there, reporting/writing/blogging for you! :P

My car got fixed today! Huzza, The Red Rocket is back in business!
Was it cheap? No.
Was it worth it? Yes!
The parts and repair cost me about 2300 NOK but it was way cheaper than a new car :P

As I apparently stated in my Facebook (or Fjesboka/Tryneboka as some say here in Norway) profile, I are indeed drinking some beer tonight ;)
‘Had to’ catch a taxi home at about 0240 with Michael and his gal (gf, girl, lady or somethin’), even tho I would have staied (how do you spell saty–stayed?) at the Kro (pub-thingy) till it closed if I could, but seeing at both them two and Anja and her gal (Edmund, Eddie, typen, kisen — Nor in fact a gal, a dude, but still) was heading home. So instead of hanging around for 10-15 mins and paying my own taxi, I decided to tag along with these beaches ;)
Hang around the (my) livingroom talking shit for a while, almost an hour ^^, fun tho ;)
<- by this point in the post I no longer know what Im writing about.. ->
Anywho, the Kro was fun, even met a girl I have never met before. She was quite blond indeed, but not to bad. And to be honest, this is a all time best for the kro ;). Hoping it will keep its current form, coz this is looking good ;)
As a final notice, you should all know the beer at the kro is among the better beers on the planet. It is infact just plain mack ‘fatøl’ but, it is served ice cold from a excelent tap, making it even better than most places serving good Mack beer ;)
Jolly good, I can hardly even remember the last line I wrote, so Ill probalby pack it in.
Evenin’ all! :D

Edit:
beer
The ’second’ beer at the kro. Lookin’ good innit?!
Fagzez Fagzez? Perhaps, perhaps indeed ;)

Chili con Carnage

Culture No Comments »

Lately I have been enjoying the classic dish know as chili con carne (or simply chili).
I have never used a recip, making it the frist time from memory (my roommate made it a couple of months earlier). From there I have experimented and improved it, resulting in “Chili con Carnage” a quick, easy and classic chili dish. This is a daily-use-dish and is, as such, quite simple and straigth forward.
Here is my recip for Chili con Carnage, enjoy:

Ingredients:
400g Ground Beef
1 can of Chili Beans (w/sauce)
1 red onion
1 red chili
1 can of corn
1 tablespoon of butter

Preparation:
Let the butter melt in a frying pan, then ad the meat.
While the meat is cooking, chop the onion and chili into smal squares.
Just before the meat is done add the onion and chili.
When the meat is done, add the chili beans, turn down the heat and let the beans heat up and the sauce mix in. Keep stiring to distribute the sauce and beans and keep the dish from burning.
After 1-4 minutes, when the beans are warm. Turn the heat of and add the corn (use 1/2 - 1 can) and stir it into the dish.
The dish is now done.

Serving:
Serve the dish on a large plate or in a bowl.
Serve with sour cream if the dish is hot/spicy.
You could also serve with bread and/or salad but I prefere it without anything on the side.

Notes:
1 whole chili will make this dish rather hot, so you can reduce the amount to 1/2 or even less if you dont want it too hot.

Friend is a four letter word

One of my absolute favorite songs:

Cake - Friend is a four letter word

To me, coming from you,
Friend is a four letter word.
End is the only part of the word
That I heard.
Call me morbid or absurd.
But to me, coming from you,
Friend is a four letter word.
To me, coming from you,
Friend is a four letter word.
End is the only part of the word
That I heard.
Call me morbid or absurd.
But to me, coming from you,
Friend is a four letter word.

When I go fishing for the words
I am wishing you would say to me,
I’m really only praying
That the words you’ll soon be saying
Might betray the way you feel about me.

But to me, coming from you,
Friend is a four letter word.
